Frames

Frames are linear structures made of members that resist moment and shear in addition to axial force. Members of a frame are usually connected to each other using moment connections (moment or rigid frames), however, in the case of simple frames, members are connected through simple or pin connections.

The term “frame” usually refers to a “moment-frame”, which means the connections can resist moment in addition to shear and axial forces.
